What kind of ammo for my 1951 Ithaca Featherlight?
I just purchased an Ithaca model 37 Featherlight shotgun, and am anxious to try it out, but I don't know what kind of ammo is safe in an older gun like this. Can someone give me some advice? I know that it needs 2 3/4 rounds, but I've heard that new powder is totally different and much stronger than old powder. Do I need to buy anything special to shoot from this gun?
Resident Evil 5 Infinite Ammo Ithaca Shotgun?
I have beat Resident Evil 5, fully upgraded the Ithaca, and purchased Infinite Ammo for it in Bonus Features. It even says that it was purchased. And whenever I enter a new game or chapter select, I turn the "Infinite Ammo on?" to "YES." However, when I actually go into the game, I don't have infinite ammo for it. What am I doing wrong? BTW, This is on PS3

Ithaca barrel takedown screw is stuck?
I got a friend who has a 80's Ithaca 12g shotgun and he cant for the life of him get the barrel takedown screw loosened. he has taken it off before but the other day it wouldn't come off. and of course we don't want to wrench on it in case something is wrong. so i was wondering if anyone has any tricks that might help us get it off or would our best bet be to take it to a smith.

The Ithaca Model 37 ?
I have never so much as fired an Ithaca shotgun...OK, Ithaca fans, stop gasping... I know little of them. What makes them special ? (Other than bottom eject.) Compare to say...870 Wingmaster, something that I know well. Who has a smoother action ? Better finish ? Reliability ? Balance ? Pointability ? How are the newer Ithaca shotguns, as compared to pre-bankruptcy ? Facts and opinion welcome. Ithaca fans and owners, strut your stuff... And, thank you, in advance.

Does anyone have an idea???? Please help
Has Ithaca ever built a 16 gauge auto-loader?
Someone offered one for sale and I had never heard of an Ithaca auto-loader. I thought all their shotguns were pumps or side by side action. Is $400 a decent price. He claims it to be "as new" whatever that means. Has engraved receiver. I haven't been able to find anything on the web about this gun. Thanks for your help.
So what is this? The Holy Grail of Shotguns or Something?
I was brought up by my Dad to like hunting, but my Dad died and my brother can't stand me. Also, I was brought up in Los Angeles, so I have no woods skills. I became close personal friends with a Ranger who works in the Angeles National Forest. I took a fifth grade class I taught up up to Chilao Flat on a field trip, and I met him and we hit it off. He sort of wished he worked with young kids, and I sort of wished I was a Ranger. Anyway, we are friends and do lots of things together. You can't hunt deer now, but in California, you can hunt Wild Boar all year round. You just have to buy a "Pig" tag and add it to your Hunting License. Well, my friend found a place you can hunt boar near a reservoir. And it's not too far. The only hitch is you need to use a shotgun to hunt. My only shotgun is a Savage BSE double barrel 20 gauge I inherited, and my Ranger friend insists that won't work on Pig. So he offers to loan me one of his shotguns. He tells me this is a real special shotgun, and then acts like he is doing me a real, real big favor. He then pulls out of a closet an ancient ugly deformed looking thing and tells me it is a ITHACA MODEL 37 DEERSLAYER, WHICH IS THE GREAT SHOTGUN FOR SLUGS EVER MADE. He is really impressed by this shotgun. I guess. It was his father's. He is from Illinois, and apparently you can only hunt deer with shotguns (?), It's what his Dad used to hunt with. He acts like merely letting me touch this shotgun is an act of great trust and responsibilty. I notice he is NOT hunting with it. HE is going to hunt with a new Remington 870 with a special rifled aftermarket barrel, and a raised rib for a scope, and HE has a handy dandy scope on HIS hunting shotgun. The one he wants to loan me is about 60 years old, the bluing is worn off, the action is so old, if you hold the gun barrel up, the pump slides down. It does have FIXED rifle sights, but the barrel is smooth. So is this gun just special because it was his Dad's? Or is the Ithaca Deerslayer really a mighty and legendary slug gun? This guy is a good friend, so I will play along if I have to. Oh, and this thing is a 12 guage, and I weigh 121 pounds. And from what I am told, 12 guage rifled slugs are the hardest kicking things you can fire from a shotgun. Great............can't wait.........
Value of an Ithaca 20 guage?
Does anyone know the value of an Ithaca Model 66 single shot 20 guage shotgun? I think it was also called a featherweight.
What is the value of a Ithaca Model #37.?
I have a Deerslayer Featherlight 12 gauge pump shotgun with 2 boxes of old 2 3/4 cartridges. It was mfg. in the 50's and is in excellent shape. The serial number is #768782 and it has the signature duck engravings on both sides. It has been rarely fired as my dad never shot but 1 deer in his life. I need to sell it and would like to know the value. Thanks, Dave.
What is your opinion of Ithaca shotguns?
I've never met anybody that owns one but have always wanted to try one out. It'll be a 12 gauge (I have cases of the stuff and don't want to bring another kind into the house) but I'm not sure if there is a big difference between Featherlight and Ultralight or how well they take their ammo....Let me be honest, I don't know anything. Let me hear everything you know about Ithaca shotguns and how they stack up against your usual Remingtons and Mossbergs. If you have an opinion, I want to hear it. Thanks in advance.
Stevens 77 multi choke or Ithaca 66?
I don't know which one to buy. It'll just be for my collection and maybe take a squirrel and rabbit and maybe a deer if I feel like mixing it up. The Stevens is $150 and there are two of them. The had one siting for a while and just got another one in. In the corner tough I saw a lever and thought there was a lever action rifle mixed in with the shotguns. Here it's a Ithaca model 66 20 gauge 3" chamber. The Ithaca is marked at $100 and looking on gun broker I saw none below $175. So if I wanted to I could make my money back on parts in no time. I really like the Stevens but it two would probably sit unless you me and walk in and want too buy two because you like Savage-Stevens. The Ithaca would be great tough because I've been looking high and low and waiting for a store to get in a reasonably priced 20 gauge single shot for about a year. Half of me wants the Stevens and the other half wants to Ithaca. What would you do/recommend/what advice do you have?

What is the thing about Ithaca Shotguns?
I have a friend who thinks Ithaca Deerslayers are the cat's meow. He thinks they are the greatest slug gun ever made. He loaned me an ancient Deerslayer that belonged to his father, and thought he was doing me a real big favor. Recently, I was talking to my brother (which is rare because we hate each other's guts) and he suddenly went all excited about Ithaca shotguns. He used to be on the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. He left the department due to an auto immune disease he has. Any way his department used an Ithaca shotgun with the barrel cut back to 15 inches. He went on and on about how this was the greatest, lightest, smoothest shotgun ever made and it was vastly superior to the heavy, clunky Remington 870. Why so much loyalty to Ithaca 37's?
Ithaca double barrel shotgun?
I was told the gun I have is from 1891, but I'm not sure. It is an Ithaca double barrel side by side shotgun. The serial number on it is 133098, does any one know about how much this gun is worth? It isn't a black powder gun, it shoots shells, so like I said, it may not be that old.
Ithaca shotgun Need Answers?
I have a Ithaca side by side 12 ga. serial # 236xxx i believe it is a field grade model stock is good no repairs 90% blue on barrels tight action choked full & mod. can anyone tell me it's manufacture date and value...i think around 1910 but not sure.
At one time, was the Ithaca Deerslayer considered the premier police shotgun?
My brother is old enough to be my father. When he joined the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputies, the issue sidearm was a four inch barrel, Model 15 Smith & Wesson .38 Special "Combat Masterpiece." It was also used by the Los Angeles Police Department, and most of the agencies in Southern California. The round used was the Remington 125 grain +P hollowpoint. The Shotgun was the Ithaca Deerslayer, with the barrel cut back to 15 inches. The load was a 2 and 3/4 magnum with 12 rounds of "OO" buckshot. All the Sheriff's swore this was a better gun than the Remington 870. They based this on four things: 1) the action was so smooth, that after a year or so of wear, if you held the gun vertically, and pushed the slide release, the pump would fall all the way back 2) At the time, if a 870 "double loaded" you would need a boy scout knife and 15 minutes to clear it. By contrast, the feed for the Ithaca was two bent rods, and you could push the cartridge with your fingers. 3) The Ithaca works equally well for right or left hands. 4) The Ithaca came with rifle sights, and in a pinch, could group slugs on a dinner plate sized target at 100 yards. What happened? How did the 870 pass the Ithaca by so quickly? Ithaca used to make a Police Shotgun called the "LAPD Special." Now the LAPD uses the 870.
How much do I have to invest in my shotgun?
I have an old Ithaca Model 37 shotgun. It needs a stock, the magazine tube attachment, and cleaning. I need an estimation on how much I might be investing into it to get it into good shooting condition I want to fix it up more for sentimental value being it was my grandpa's old gun
ithaca 600 shotgun question?
Recently at the trap club near where I live one of my friends put up his ithaca 600 for sale. He is asking somewhere between 600 to 700 dollars for it. My question is if the gun is worth it. It is the field model I think, has a 28" barrel, is relatively new, and is in amazing condition. He did let me shoot it and it fit me well and had no problems at all.

Worth of an old Ithaca shotgun?
It's an Ithaca double barrel shotgun. It has open hammers, steel barrel and damascus twist. It's a 10 gauge. I'm looking for info and a price range for one in pretty good shape. Thanks!

What is a good side-by-side shotgun for under $500?
I know that most will say that you will not get a quality SxS for under $1000 or so, but I am speaking in relative terms obviously. I've been looking at Ithacas, Savage/Fox Model Bs, and Stoegers among others. Any comments/thoughts? Much appreciated!
What type gun does a police officer carry?
I just need to know what type and how many bullets it can hold. I know some handguns vary, so I was thinking which type of gun would be more common in a town. Like a town of let's say 10,000-15,000 people. Also, I always see a shotgun in the police cruiser. What type of shotgun is it, and how many bullets can it hold? For all of you who are scared that I might have bad intentions. I do not. I am simply writing a novel, and I'm hoping to get some correct information.
what is the best most affordable gun or guns out there?
winner will get it for the most practical weapons pistol, shotguns, and rifles. by practical the weapon should have efficient stopping power, but be cheap enough that anyone can buy it, but not so cheaply made that it will break.
Is Magnum Buck shot safe for a older gun?
I have a 1965 Remington 870 Wingmaster 12 gauge shotgun and i was just wondering if Winchester double X magnum Buck shot might be to much for the gun. The gun is made for 3inch shells and so is the barrel. So would it be?

What is the best way to restore an old Shotgun?
No playing around here. Just want to know what I should purchase as far as a kit to make this gun good for sale. Thanks! It appears to be in the 1950's. Maybe 1948. It's in great shape Sorry, it's an Ithaca model 37 pump. 16 ga. w/ 2 3/4 barrel. Has engravings of what looks like pheasants and ducks.
A hunting question on terrain and weapon of choice?
If the place to hunt were on some dense forest with mild humidity what would be a more viable option for hunting, a rifle or a shotgun? Or probably another weapon? Give your expertise and advice on why that particular weapon is suited for the hunt. Deer and other relatively medium sized animals would be the target of course.
What's a good age to introduce shooting to a child?
I know i've got a few years till that time comes, but what's a good age? I was thinking of 5, though perhaps that wouldn't be a good age. When did you start letting your kids squeeze the trigger at the gun range or at what age did your parents let you start shooting?
What weapons would be in a small town sheriffs department?
In terms of the size of a town, I'm thinking of one around the size of Bartlett, texas. In terms of specifics; Ruger GP-100? Smith & Wesson 686? Glock 19? Mossberg 500? The novel is basically a mystery format; and I need some nice detail and realism in what the sheriff's department would have.
I need a new shotgun... What would you recommend?
I have an old Ithaca 20 gauge shotgun, and I bought it I think in the early 70's, and think it is time for a new shotgun. I use it for smallgame and birds, mostly pheasants and squirrels. I also use it for turkey sometimes. What brand would you recommend that isn't very expensive?
Can i put a new sight system on my old ithaca model 37?
I was wondering if i could take my old gun to a gun shop and put some new fiber optic sight on here.? Would they be able to do that? Also could they put a sling on it for me??? How much do you think this would coast?????
What firearm caliber gun should I buy?
I'm looking into buying a handgun for home self-defense. I'd like a caliber with maximum blow back so the target would be stunned. I wouldn't mind learning a bit about the different calibers' pros/cons if anyone feels like listing 'em.
How to get the "Stockpile" achievement on Resident Evil 5?
To get it, it says "Obtain all available weapons" but the thing is, I bought all the guns that you can from the store, including the Gatling Gun and the Longbow. And after I bought them all, I didn't get it. So, I bought the stun rod, the melee and bullet proof vest, and all rounds for the grenade launcher and I still have not gotten it. What I'm I missing?
Does anyone know about stevens savage arms inc?
My daughter is looking for something to protect herself with in the Ozark Hills, someone offered to sell her a Stevens Savage Arms model 820b pump action 12 guage. But I can't find anything in particular about the gun; only the company in general.

Could a 118 pound man handle the recoil of shotgun slugs?
When I have zeroed in my shotgun from the bench the felt recoil exceeded that of my 30-06. Could a very small person who hunts deer with a 44-40 handle the recoil of slugs in an Ithaca model 37? Newell, who are you? I didn't say anything about you? What has this got to do with you? Why are you being so sensitive?
Anyone have an Ithaca shotgun that set off a shell outside of the barrel?
So I was shooting my shotgun earlier today. It is an Ithaca shotgun that loads and ejects from the same port on the bottom of the gun. I fired three shots, pulled the action back towards me after the third shot, and BAM! Fourth shot before the fourth shot made it into the barrel. Has anyone ever had this before? Could the force at which the spring in the shell storage tube be enough to set off a primer when it hit metal? Oh, and the firing pin being stuck out is definitely not what happened, as it never made contact with the primer. There are two theories. 1. The shell came out of the tube with enough force to hit a piece of metal to cause the primer to go off. Faulty primer maybe? 2. The shot end of the shell got caught on the lip at the end of the barrel, and the extractor caught the edge of the brass, bent it, puncture the side of the brass and ignited the powder. First one doesn't seem to have any hole in my opinion. Second one does. The load/eject arms are too springy and would not be able to put enough force to hold the shell in without slipping around the shell. But I don't know... any professional opinions? Here is a link with a few photos so that you and look it over and try to figure out what happened. http://s1361.photobucket.com/user/T_Wheezzy/library/?sort=3&page=1 If the link doesn't work or you can't see pictures, let me know soon and I will try to fix it.
I have an Ithaca Model 51 Featherweight 20 Gauge Shotgun that fails to fire the second shell?
The gun consistently fires the first shell and cycles the next one into the chamber but the trigger is locked until I pull back the charging handle about half way and let it go. Once I do this, the trigger is reset and the next shell fires fine. I have broken down the gun, removed the trigger group and cleaned it along with a bunch of other crud but it still works the same way. Anyone have any ideas as to what I need to do to fix this?
Best Pump-shotgun for 600 max?
Hi guys im getting into the shotgun market since i want a home defense weapon other then my Glock 17. Now i have 3 choice in mind Ithaca 37 Mossberg 500/590 ( whats difference between 500-590) Rem870 Let me tell you what i am look at I want it to shoot ALL 12 loads from 00-number 4. Not to give credit to my father( drunken asshole/long story/hate him) but he always had a Ithaca and loved it from what he told me. Then there is the big bad Mossberg which i hear have been having problems recently? Then the 870 but I prefer wood on the gun and LOCALLY havent found a wood pattern 870. I also forgot to mention the Winchester 1300 Defender. I hear they are great but hard to find? So if you have any of these shotguns please tell me which you prefer. You can recommend another brand if you want. Shooting slugs is something i can live without but would prefer it. Thanks guys By problems i meant to say was There was a guy at my local gun show who said he had one with a warped barrel on it. Then i hear about them just not being reliable. I know they came in wood but haven't found one locally.
Question about the Ithaca Auto & Burglar shotgun pistol.?
If they made a modern version of that pistol but added rifling would it be considered just a handgun? I was wondering if it would be AOW weapon even with the rifling. The gun in question made back in the 1920s; http://www.firearmstalk.com/images/3/9/0/8/3/ithica-auto-and-burglar-817.jpg A friend of mine insists it would be legal just as the judge revolvers. However after reading the ATF AOW description I’m not so sure if you had one custom made with rifling it would be considered a handgun. The ‘Auto’ meant automobile as in being able to pack it in your car, not meaning automatic.
I need help identifying my grandpa's old Ithaca shotgun.?
It is a old double barrel shot gun made by Ithaca Gun CO. Ithaca NY. It is a side by side gun with a Damascus barrel. There are some numbers on the receiver. They are 204620 on the right side, and 1 and 12 on the left side. Also in the top right corner there is 4 letters, PATD. I was wondering, when was it made, the model name if there is one, potential worth (its in fair condition with most of its slow rust treatment Damascus thing still on) and anything else you could tell me about it. Also I was wondering how to get that letter thing from the factory that says who it was sold to or what ever. thx
Ithaca smokeless powder?
I have an Ithaca double barrel shotgun with Smokeless Powder printed on top of the barrels. The serial number is 284123 and etched above Ithaca Gun Company, Ithaca, NY is a bird dog. Does anyone know any information about this gun or value of the gun?
12 gauge vs 10 gauge shotguns?
Everyone is so aginst the 10 gauge saying it's obsolete and stuff.I know its a hundred times the shotgun a 12 gauge could ever be.I do think the 12 and 10 pattern the same if not the 12 better but it doesnt come close to the muzzle energy the 10 creates. I own a Remington sp-10 magnum with a super full turkey choke I smashed my turkey at 65 yards about 10 years ago using wincheter supreme shotgun shells. Now of course I only had like 12 pellets in the head but because of the energy it creates I killed him. Most 12 gauge lead shotgun shells don't get passed 55 yards if that.so y does everone think the 10 is obsolete please explain to me

Choosing a rifled slug shotgun?
In 12 gauge pump action, what brands are worth the money. Anyone have expereince with the newer Browning and Winchester pump action?I really like Ithaca but have a hard time getting myself to pay the price. I dont know why they sell so high. I saw and held the DSIII Ithaca and it was $1300,Why? Ive got mossbergs but no rifled barrel. I like the older Remingtons (870s)better than the newer ones. I feel they have been cheapened up.I havent shot a Benneli Nova but would like to know some feedback on it if you hunt with one with rifles barrel.I wont get a H&R Pardner Pump because im not supporting a China mad gun.I may just look for an older 870 used and buy a rifled barrel for it. I really would like to hear about the Benneli Nova, the new brownings , and the new Winchester (with rifled barrel). Do you hunt with one and what do you think about them? Im not wanting a Mossberg for this. Ive got a 835 and a 500. I forgot i would like to have the catilever type though not rifle sights.I honestly wasnt too impressed with remingtons cantilever. i got a smoothbore rifled sight barrel for the 835,and a bird barrel. The 500 has a full choke 30'' barrel that cant be change(chokes cant be changed) the choke is fixed. Its an older one.The safety on top is metal and the new ones are plastic.I got a Ithaca 20 gauge with both barrels too. The sights on it are messed up though.Thats why i bought the smoothbore deer barrel for the 835. My next one is going to be a rifled barrel thats not a mossberg.I love mossberg but want something else to try.
Shotgun bear hunting?
OK. i recently asked about hunting black bear, and earlier tonight i bought a mossberg 500 12 gauge pump action shotgun to get my shot better. If i dont get a better shotgun, using the mossberg I now have with a 3" slug shell, would you say i have a decent chance at actually taking down a bear? Please do not answer this unless you have experience hunting bear.
Shotguns of legend Poll:?
